Morris-Jumel Mansion's Sweet Lips Madeira blend is the marriage of two of George Washington's favorite things - his love of Madeira wine, and love of dogs. Sweet Lips was one of the many creative names which Washington gave the dogs he owned and bred, and Washington is widely credited with being the premier breeder of the American Foxhound. Madeira was the favored drink of the “Founding Fathers" and was consumed in celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, among other major early American milestones.
